Maryann Stern, Property Manager, Genesee Apartments and Townhomes

My two favorite/go-to gifts right now are ones that benefit kids and women. I love the fact that they’re not only cute and useful, but also a beneficial to others.

Classic mystery jigsaw puzzle

I’m obsessed with a gift I got last year, and am now purchasing to give! It’s a book/puzzle combo. You read the short story first—a mystery that leaves you hanging—and after you read the book, you put the puzzle together and use the clues from the puzzle to solve the mystery!

Amber Preston, Leasing Consultant, Woodridge

Essential oil diffuser

My favorite gift to give is an essential oil diffuser with my favorite oils (my ultimate favorite is the NOW lavender oil, and the clear the air blend). I love giving this gift because it’s something anyone can enjoy and personalize with their own favorite scents/needs. You can find them on Amazon, but I also find great deals on them at TJ Maxx!

Kim West, Property Manager, Coachman Trails

Hand-painted ornaments

I paint ornaments every year for my nieces and nephews so they have a start to their own Christmas tree when they are grown. They have names and years on the backs. I usually use burnt out bulbs, but have also used regular ornaments and added my personal touch!

Adam Maass, Leasing Coordinator, Genesee Apartments and Townhomes

meal

Home-cooked meals have always been a favorite of mine to receive. It doesn’t cost a lot and it comes from the heart as it’s made from love.

candle

I also love candles and a variety of them—The Paddywax Apothecary, Tobacco & Patchouli is an all-time favorite!

boy

I love buying my nephews’ gifts, whether it is a scooter, new gear, or sneakers. The sparkle that lights up their eyes is forever memorable. I would much rather give gifts than get anything.

Morse code bracelet

After my niece was born, my sister gave me a custom bracelet that says “aunt” in morse code. It’s super simple, but incredibly meaningful. I never take it off—it’s a constant reminder of how lucky I am to be a sister and an aunt!

Jill Thorson, Property Manager, The View At Long Lake

giftbasket

I think experiences make great gifts.  I’ve given a movie night theme basket with bottled soda, popcorn, boxed candy and a DVD.  The Depot is a very popular place for indoor skating, and tickets to skate are a fun gift to use over the Christmas break.  And this year I’m thinking a certificate for a facial and massage at The Day Spa would be a good gift for me!

Stacey Miller, Property Manager, Woodridge

I like to give and receive unique gifts!

12

Last year for Christmas, my boyfriend Peter and I had a $75 budget. Instead of buying one gift, I did the “12 Days of Peter,” and each day, I had a present that corresponded to the number. On the 2nd day, I bought two tickets for a jazz concert. On the 3rd day, I bought him three bottles of his favorite juice. The gifts didn’t have to be fancy or expensive, but it was really fun, and he really liked it!

Catherine Ragozzino, Property Manager, Remington Cove Apartments

My husband and I exchanged DNA kits one year so that we could learn more about our ancestry. There were some fun surprises hidden within our chromosomes!
